Meet the artist:
Christine Gebauer
Bio
Christine Gebauer is an abstract fine artist known for her moody, textured compositions that bring together muted, neutral tones and a deeply nature-inspired aesthetic. Her work, often built through layers of texture and earthy color palettes, invites viewers into a grounding and introspective space. Gebauer’s art is inspired by the beauty of nature and the rawness of manmade materials weathered by the elements, which she infuses with emotional depth from her personal experiences. Her practice centers on an intuitive approach, which she views as a form of self-trust and spiritual exploration, challenging perfectionism and embracing spontaneity. Christine’s work has been exhibited at Celestial Art Curation in Hinsdale, Illinois, West End Gallery in La Grange, Illinois, and the Elmhurst Art Museum in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Artist Statement
“My work emerges from an intuitive process where each mark and layer builds a connection to something deeper within. I find inspiration in the textures and hues found in nature—such as textures of tree bark or the erosion of natural stone—and in the imperfections that add up to depth and dimension. These influences come together to create pieces that resonate with both the natural and the spiritual, inviting reflection and emotional growth. I approach each canvas with a spirit of openness, allowing the work to unfold as I let go of control, pushing back against perfectionism and trusting in the process itself. My hope is that these works evoke a sense of peace, grounding, and introspection in those who experience them.”
This aligns with her style of creating serene, reflective works that invite contemplation and encourage personal and emotional growth.
